Keynote & Welcoming Address

Dear ICMG 2017 participant

It is a privilege to introduce the two speakers who will deliver the keynote address and welcoming address at the conference. Professor Mike Meadows will be honouring us with his presence at the opening of the conference on Monday, 19 June. He will share a few thoughts on the International Geographical Union and its link with Military Geosciences with us. Professor Meadows is a Past President of both the Society of South African Geographers and the Southern African Society for Quaternary Research. He was elected Vice-President of the International Geographical Union (IGU) and served in that capacity from 2008 to 2010. In 2010 he was elected Secretary-General and Treasurer of the IGU, a position he still holds.

During the Conference Dinner on Thursday, 22 June, Professor Luke Sandham, the current President of the Society of South African Geographers (SSAG), will deliver a short address and welcome delegates on behalf of the SSAG.
